Hansen | Team OMG Coating | hashing out ideas onto his team’s canvas

This week we had a workshop at NTUitive’s office with SJ where we revisited the VPC and BMC diagrams for refining our pitches. He emphasized that the thinking and analytical process should be our primary focus, and not to just fill in the charts with extraneous and non-objective points. Our goal is to be as concise and pragmatic as possible to avoid over embellishing our business idea and company image. This is particularly important since we will eventually be seeking out investors and would only have a few minutes to get their attention.

As our business plan starts to take shape, I have started to consider the role I will be filling as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a startup. I went through several online resources to get a better glimpse of what the roles and responsibilities of a COO might entail. Aside from overseeing the daily operations of a company, the next immediate duties are to support and complement a CEO’s management style. My current teammate seems to be the visionary and creative type while I am more inclined towards taking an analytical and systematical approach to decision making. Therefore, I believe we complement each other’s roles fairly well.
